A unique illustrated academic e-journal has grown out of the collaborative meeting of minds of prehistorians, historians, art history researchers, semioticians, linguists, psychoanalysts, neurologists, archaeologists and anthropologists working in different countries to decipher the meaning and value of the human footsteps.
Interdisciplinary studies reveal deep connections between traces of the distant past and contemporary humans as seen in artistic creations, tribal practices, mental faculties, gestures and other intellectual and spiritual expressions for a new current of anthropological research: conceptual anthropology.

Having worked at Pompeii for nearly 50 years, I conducted a house by house study of domestic religion and the imagery associated with the lararia. I have recently retired to West Virginia, USA and find similar images in paleoindian rock art and man made stone features. The snake and egg imagery seems pervasive. I seek further prehistoric examples of such images and construction. Of, course, I wonder why similar imagery from such distinct cultures.
